Information for professionals/volunteers

For children/young people considered to be at high risk of exploitation:

The Risk in the Community team is currently prioritising those children/ young people considered to be at high risk of exploitation. The service offer will be focusing on the following:

• Lead on the RIC pathway for high risk only (carry out RIC meetings, RIC Chats, complete RIC Records, Case Discussions and safety planning for those considered high risk).
• RIC workers will offer direct work for some high-risk children.
• Coordinate, update, minute and support MACE 1 & MACE 2 meetings.
• Provide analytical reports on Child Exploitation for MACE and ESCB Sub-Committee and Executive Board and other partnership forums.
• Provide targeted Risk in the Community training and development for the wider workforce, including our foster-carers and special guardian families (subject to capacity).

For children/young people considered to be medium or low risk from exploitation:

Allocated worker to assess the risk, complete Risk in the Community records, create safety plans and carry out direct work – there are tools to support this. If the allocated social worker requires a RIC Case Discussion they can still request this via the team inbox, but should only make this request if they believe the child to be high risk or at the cusp of high/ medium risk. Other practitioners please contact the Children and Families Hub to make a referral.
