Honour Based Abuse / Forced Marriage & Spiritual and Ritual Abuse

Target audience: Anyone working with children and families in Essex

Course description:

The course looks at the Child Safeguarding Practice Review - Forced Marriage - co-authored by Bal Kaur Howard and includes case studies and lived experience.  

• For practitioners to get an understanding of the difference between arranged and forced marriage.
• For practitioners to gain an understanding of the risk indicators
• Information about safety planning
• Relevant legislation. 

The course brings greater awareness and understanding to abuse that takes place here in the UK, affecting thousands of people every year, delivered by a leading expert in the area.

Learning Objectives:

• Cultural awareness of beliefs, superstitions and spirituality
• Effective communication in managing a report or disclosure of this abuse, and to be confident in your approach when potentially having to challenge beliefs where they are harmful to others
• Unique developed techniques to help those who have been abused and safeguard them from further abuse.

Cost to participants: Free (Please ensure you have read the ESCB Charging and Cancellation policy before completing this application, as non-attendance or late-notice cancellation will result in a charge.

Cancellation

If a delegate fails to attend a course that they have booked, or cancel with less than five working days’ notice, their organisation will be charged - £20. A delegate will be deemed a non-attendee if they arrive 15 minutes after the course commences either online or at a venue.
