Preparing for Difficult Conversations
Target audience: Those working within level 1 and 2 of the windscreen of need/supporting children and families with early help. This workshop is aimed at those who work with children and families in Essex.
This is a workshop for building your confidence in preparing and holding challenging conversations using cycles of change theory, motivational interviewing and early help resources. There will be some element of small group work during this session where role play may be used and we will expect our attendees to fully participate in this.
Learning Outcomes:
- Being able to identify where a family/individual may be at in their own cycle of change and how to frame your conversations using this theory.
- Using motivational interviewing to engage a family/individual in change talk and planning.
- Feeling comfortable in setting the scene and having a difficult conversation using the skills and strategies shared throughout the workshop.
Within 3 months of attendance, delegates will be expected to complete an Early Help Plan (EHP). Guidance on how to evidence this will be circulated on completion of the workshop.
Cost to participants: Free (however please see cancellation policy below)
