Launch of 'For Baby's Sake' in Essex

Last updated by ruth.salter@essex.gov.uk on Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Referrals are now being accepted for parents where there is a current pregnancy (ideally 28 weeks gestation or less) and domestic abuse present.

Both parents are required to consent to receiving contact from For Baby's Sake, and both being on the programme. They will receive individual practitioners to support the expectant mother and father. The parents do not have to be in a relationship but are intending to parent the unborn baby.

For Baby’s Sake is a trauma-informed, therapeutic programme delivered up until the baby is two years old.  Each parent has their own Therapeutic Practitioner who works with them (whether or not they are in a relationship with one another) to address the root causes of domestic abuse, and take positive action to be the best parents they can be, helping their baby to thrive.
