Youth vaping toolkits

Essex Public Health are working in partnership with young people, parents, carers, schools and wider stakeholders to reduce current usage and prevent uptake of vaping amongst children and young people in Essex.

To support this, two toolkits have been produced:

Youth vaping podcast

The Training Effect, The Children’s Society and Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service have worked together to produce a short 20-minute podcast on Youth Vaping in Essex discussing information on the potential drivers behind Youth Vaping, knowledge and awareness around vaping including potential health impacts for young people and how to have supportive conversations with young people.

Break the Vape - Help and support to quit vaping

The Essex Vaping Service - Break the vape is offering support to young people who would like help quitting vaping or nicotine-based products.

Young people between the ages of 13 - 18 and living within Essex can access this support with a Vaping Practitioner. Support can be engaged with face to face in the community, virtually or over the phone.

Support includes 4 to 6 sessions looking at:

  • Individual quitting plans
  • Nicotine awareness
  • Vaping knowledge
  • Nicotine reduction support
  • Wellbeing and diversionary activity support whilst quitting

To access this support, young people can self-refer through the referral form on The Children's Society website.
