Baby Summer Safety - Keep babies safe and comfortable in the summer

Last updated by Stephanie Rosser on Thursday, August 7, 2025

Warmer weather and summer holidays can make it trickier to follow safer sleep advice.

One of the most important parts of baby summer safety is keeping your baby cool in hot weather. It is recommended to keep the room your baby sleeps in at a fairly cool temperature of 16 – 20°C. Babies that get too hot have a greater risk of  sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), so it’s essential to keep them cool enough.

Use this quick guide to baby summer safety from The Lullaby Trust so you can enjoy the summer with your little one.
