Reminder - Disclosure and Barring Service Update from 1st September 2026

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has published guidance on changes to the legal definition of regulated activity with children following the Crime and Policing Act 2026.
From 1 September 2026, the definition expanded to include some supervised roles that were previously exempt. As a result, these roles may become eligible for a Children’s Barred List check. It remains unlawful for a barred individual to undertake regulated activity or for an organisation to permit them to do so.
