See, Hear, Respond

See, Hear, Respond is a coalition of charities, led by Barnardo’s, providing services to children across England offering support for children and families who have been the most impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The program is specifically aimed at five priority groups whom we know have been impacted disproportionately by the pandemic:

  • Under 5s with a specific focus on under 2s
  • Those with SEND who are not receiving their usual services
  • Children at risk of abuse, neglect and exploitation both in and out of the home
  • “BAMER” children where services have not offered culturally appropriate or sensitive responses
  • Young Carers

Barnardo’s Regional Hubs across England receive referrals from professionals, parents/carers and children directly via a dedicated web form, undertake triage and provide telephone advice and support to help promote family strengths, reduce isolation and loneliness and build up on their own coping strategies. For children who require forms of on-going support beyond this, the Regional Hub will offer packages of support delivered through a network of charity partners featuring:

  • Online counselling, support and advice
  • Online group sessions
  • Detached Youth Work sessions in community settings
  • Pathway plans to support the reintegration of children back into school
