Preventing accidents in the home

With children at home and some parents also trying to work from home, many families are likely to be worried about their child having a serious accident.

 

90% of accidents to under 5’s happen at home. So taking some time to make your home as safe as possible is the best investment you can make in your children at the moment.

 

There can be an almost endless list of potential ‘accidents waiting to happen’  but to help parents focus Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) have outlined the five of the most serious accidents that are the easiest to prevent.

 

  1. Threats to breathing – choking, strangulation or suffocation
  2. Falls
  3. Poisoning
  4. Burns and scalds
  5. Drowning
