Designated Person training is offered through Juniper Education for schools and academies. Governors can also access training through here.


Essex Safeguarding Adult Board offers training on topics such as Safeguarding Basic Awareness and Safeguarding and the Law 


The Early Years and Childcare Practitioner website publishes safeguarding information specific to the early years and childcare workforce. This includes a self audit toolkit and early years specific training courses, including e-learning opportunities. 


Schools Infolink has safeguarding information for schools including a best practice checklist, self-assessment audit tool and various toolkits. Click on 'Providing advice and Training to Designated Co-ordinators' for whole school training that can be delivered by the designated person.

Child Protection in Sport Unit - in association with the NSPCC

The Children’s Society East are happy to offer a training package to develop Essex frontline workers in the skills required to use AMBIT in strengthening delivery across the network.  The Adaptive Mentalization-Based Integrative Treatment (AMBIT) is an evidence based approach that has been developed by the Anna Freud Centre.  AMBIT provides tools for putting mentalization to use in work with clients, colleagues and wider network, and it is also a framework for local improvement and learning. 

Skills you will develop within this course include:

To attend the virtual training you would be required to complete an E-Learning module prior, as this will deliver the theory behind the approach and will take approximately 90 minutes.  Once this has been completed the virtual training will be held between 10am-3pm on your choice of session, currently we are offering one a month with the next sessions on Feb 3rd, March 24th, April 8th and May 18th.  You only need to attend one.
