Last updated by charlotte.lang@essex.gov.uk on Wednesday, March 13, 2024

Ofcom has published an article outlining proposed guidance on age checking measures to prevent children accessing online pornography platforms, in line with new online safety laws. The guidelines will require proof of age through the provision of photo-ID documentation or facial age estimation technology, among other measures. Fines of up to £18 million will be issued to platforms if they do not comply. The guidelines are expected to come into force by 2025.
