Across Southend, Essex and Thurrock there have been 22 child deaths in the last six years (April 2008 – Dec 2014) where bed sharing, sleeping surface, or overwrapping have been identified as modifying factors in the death.
The advice is particularly prominent in the run up to the festive season or other holidays when families might be going away or staying with friends and relatives so children may not be in their usual sleeping places.
The on-going campaign aims to raise awareness amongst professional, parents and carers preventing further child deaths due to bed sharing, sleeping position and surface.
Easy read cards were given to mothers across Southend, Essex and Thurrock with the Personal Child Health Record in Southend, Essex and Thurrock areas. Posters and cards were sent to all Children Centres, GP surgeries, and local pharmacies.
If you want any additional cards please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will happily send them out. Alternatively you can download and print the resources below.
