The Underwear Rule is a simple way that parents can help keep children safe from abuse - without using scary words or mentioning sex.

The NSPCC have developed a simple guide, to help you talk PANTS with your child. The NSPCC has also recently launched the guide for parents and carers of children with autism.

PANTS is an easy way for you to explain to your child the key elements of the Underwear Rule:

Pants are Private Always remember your body belongs to you No means no Talk about secrets that upset you Speak up, someone can help
