Children Affected by Parental Imprisonment (CAPI) Service

The CAPI service are running Hidden Sentence courses in 2018 targeted at professionals working with children, families and/or offenders.

The course aims to:

- Improve understanding about the impact of imprisonment on prisoners’ families.

- Improve understanding of a family’s journey on a prison visit.

- Understand the support needs of prisoners’ families.

- Improve your own practice in order to support a prisoners’ family.

Essex CAPI Service working in partnership with the Essex Fire Service and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Essex held a regional conference on the 'Hidden Cost On Offender Families' on Tuesday 26th September 2017. The aim of the conference was to raise professionals understanding and awareness of this vulnerable group and provide an opportunity for professionals to hear directly from parents and children about their situation and how support has helped them overcome challenges to improve their outcomes.
