The Section 11 Safeguarding Children Audit 2017-18 is now live. This year the audit tool has been sent to partners in an easy to use Excel spreadsheet. The deadline for submission of the Section 11 audit is Thursday 31st May 2018. When completed, partners must return their audit to firstname.lastname@example.org along with any supporting documents as additional evidence.
A reminder of why it is so important you complete your audit:
- Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 places duties on a range of organisations and individuals to ensure their functions, and any services that they contract out to others, are discharged having regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
- Chapter 3 of the DfE guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ 2015 states that Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) have a statutory duty to assess how well, and to what level, its partners are fulfilling their obligations to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
- This requirement is carried out through a regular cycle of auditing of partners' safeguarding effectiveness.
